Johan Sebastián’s main scientific interest is to study how environmental conditions and their disturbance shape the structure of microbial communities and their mobile genetic elements. However, those effects are not easy to describe or understand, and it requires a multidisciplinary approach. Therefore he will focus on the use of proteomics and other OMICS approaches to study the interaction between the feed and the gut microbiome.
